I unfortunately had to stop last year due to big changes at my workplace, but I do definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a music school in this area - they are as good as it gets! I was interested in learning to play classical pieces when I started, but my instructor was a jazz pianist, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to things that he wrote - it was a great introduction to different styles for me. In addition to teaching the instrument, there was also a lot of music theory so I could feel like I was learning something new and challenging every week. They do an awesome job in customizing learning plans. I have to thank my instructor for being very patient and mainly for the way he chose to teach me. The initial learning curve is steep and often times it can be frustrating due to lack of big progress. I’ve always wanted to learn to play the piano, but being an adult learner can be very difficult. They have always been willing to move things around in such cases, when I do give notice ahead of time. The best part about them is how flexible they are with scheduling for adult learners. #Half note studio bellevue wa full#I work full time and sometimes have to put in extra hours in the evening. I took piano lessons at Half note studio for a year till last August. #Half note studio bellevue wa how to#She taught me which part to use finger and which part to use hand, and how to relax fast between two notes. Corrected my figuring to make it easier for me to play each key evenly. That’s when I started my class with Eunjin. There was a song I had practiced for two months for my wedding but it still sounded wrong to me. She really knows how to teach effectively. This makes her extremely qualified to teach students at any level. I decide to study as possible Eunjin holds DMA degree in piano performance, which most teacher doesn’t have. And of course, my skilled improved a lot. She definitely made me more passionate about piano learning. I decided to settle with her as long as she won’t move out of Seattle :) She is very skilled, experienced, well-educated, humorous. Jack stayed with Hart, worked hard, and was accepted into Berklee College of Music in Boston. At the time, Hart was studying with George Benson, inspiration he passed along. Rising star Richie Hart had set up shop there and was taking on pupils. Good luck, the muses or both made that was the best in his musical life. Looking for the next teacher, he walked to the music store closest to his home. At 15, with growing skills, Jack was ready for more than his high school repertoire. For the next two years, he learned by ear and playing in bands. That day, he played through the booklet with blistering fingers while other gifts sat idle. After runs on harmonica, piano, drums, trombone and voice, Jack got a Sears guitar for his 13 th Christmas. His obsession was fed in school programs and with the occasional lessons the family could afford. His mother sang, played guitar, piano, and passed her family’s love of music on to him. Jack was a baby who’d stop crying when he could hear a song. Today, students can get Half Note instruction at the main campus in Bellevue, through University of Washington’s Experimental College and with membership at the Bellevue Club. After several years in that first outside location, further growth forced the Half Note to larger space. With that, he took the Half Note to a commercial location in Bellevue. These 13 actually took classes in a studio converted from Jack’s brother’s master bedroom! They spread the word about their instruction and within three months, he had secured 26 students. Prior to the move, he had secured 13 private students here in the Seattle area. In 1996, he moved to this area with plans of continuing his public school music career. After college (Berklee and beyond) he had a successful public school teaching career in Texas, all the while maintaining a small group of private students. HNMS Director, Jack Dowdell has been teaching private music classes since 1975, beginning in his upstate New York neighborhood.
